Dear [RECIPIENT NAME],
I am writing to demand that your agency IMMEDIATELY CEASE AND DESIST contacting my family members, relatives, friends, neighbors, or employer regarding the above-referenced account.
Under 15 U.S.C. § 1692b and 12 CFR § 1006.10, a debt collector communicating with any person other than the consumer for the purpose of acquiring location information:
1. SHALL NOT state that the consumer owes any debt;
2. SHALL NOT communicate with any such person more than ONCE unless requested by that person or unless the collector reasonably believes earlier response was erroneous; and
3. SHALL NOT communicate with any third party if the debt collector ALREADY KNOWS the consumer's location information.
Because your agency is actively corresponding with me at my confirmed address and telephone number listed above, you ALREADY POSSESS my location information. Therefore, contacting third parties under the guise of "location acquisition" is a bad-faith pretext and a direct violation of 15 U.S.C. § 1692c(b).
You are hereby commanded to immediately remove all telephone numbers and contact details for my family members, employer, and acquaintances from your contact database.
Any further calls or contact directed to third parties will result in immediate formal complaints to regulatory authorities and legal claims for statutory damages under 15 U.S.C. § 1692k.
Sincerely,
[CLIENT FULL NAME]

- Witness Statement or Phone Call Records
Before you send
- Collector is contacting third parties after already having consumer's contact info.
Know this first
- Do not admit owing the debt or promise to make any payment, as doing so may restart or reset the statute of limitations in some state jurisdictions.
- Under 15 U.S.C. § 1692b, contacting third parties for 'location information' is prohibited once the collector already possesses the consumer's location, and collectors can NEVER contact a third party more than once without permission.

Allow about 15 days for a response.
